Everyone texts. But what happens when the compulsion to maintain continuous thumb-driven conversations takes control of your every waking minute? On this episode of True Life, you'll meet two young women who are putting their relationships, health, and even their safety - on the line in order to maintain their digital addictions. Loren is a high school senior who sends over 14 thousand texts a month. Her non-stop messaging is damaging her hand and hurting her chances of playing volleyball in college, but she still refuses to change her ways. Will Loren realize she needs to give her fingers a rest in order to fulfill her dreams? Kristin is a 20-year-old wife and new mother whose thirst for social stimulation has her texting 24/7. Her husband is fed up with playing second fiddle to a phone, but Kristin thinks he's just jealous that some of her texting buddies are guys. Will Kristin recognize the damage she's inflicting in time to save her marriage? They can't survive without a phone in their hands. Will they limit their obsessions before it's too late? Synopsis
True Life is a documentary series running on MTV since March 24, 1998. Each episode follows a particular topic, such as heroin addiction as in the first episode, "Fatal Dose." The show is created by following a series of subjects by a camera crew through a certain part of their lives.
